Haitian American Physicians Mobilize and are currently providing Medical Services in Haiti

Konbit Pou Ayiti (People Working Together for Haiti)

The Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad NY needs support with their efforts to provide much needed medical services to the people of Haiti. (please feel free to forward...they are already on the ground in Haiti providing services).

I am working very closely with family and friends to support the people of Haiti. Our family has decided to place a lot of our efforts supporting the medical needs of the country. I know that many people are concerned about sending money to reputable organizations so I urge you to consider supporting the Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad NY Chapter (AMHENY). When you research this organization, I believe you will agree that this is a worthy organization that is working with the American Red Cross. You DO NOT have to be Haitian to volunteer as a medical professional and/or donate medical supplies to AMHENY.

At this time, the ports are badly damaged and I was told that I would receive an update of when it will be okay to send the containers/supplies to Haiti. If medical supplies come directly from the pharmaceutical companies and/or travel with the physicians, they will get to the needy immediately. Shipping them directly to Haiti at this time may result in the supplies getting stuck at customs until the physicians/arrive. No one knows exactly when the ports will be running effectively at this time.

No donation will be used for any kind of administrative fees! Donations can be made online!...on their website: (www.amheny.org)

I share all this information because I want you to know that we are a family of change agents and we are very serious about service to mankind. Please feel free to research my aunt (Tatie) Marie Laurence Jocelyn Lassegue, who is currently a cabinet member for the Haitian government. My brother-in-law, Jimmy Jacques, is in Haiti right now covering the story for the news, my cousin, Dr. Ronald Verrier is already in Haiti addressing the housing and medical needs of our elders and family. My aunt, Gina Pardo RN, will be traveling to Haiti with Dr. George Angus of the AMHENY.

Dr. Delcasse and Dr. Jean Claude Compass of AMHENY have already left for Haiti with medical supplies. Working with the Haitian Consulate, the AMHE have obtained a plane from Jetblue to fly medical personnel to the Dominican Republic and to provide a bus to Port-au-Prince(over the next few days..again traveling with medical supplies). Councilman James Saunders has recommended tents be used for lodging, and meals ready to eat (MRE's) from the military instead of food that may require cooking and has committed to providing this. If you know of medical personal that would like to participate please contact Louis Auguste MD, ljaugustemd@gmail.com, and if you know of others whom may be available please invite them to participate.

The contact person is George Angus, MD 516-967-6286; 516-967-6286. They are compiling a list to go back and forth to Haiti over the next several weeks.

Thanks in advance for your support, please forward this to others whom may want to support.
